Updated facebook

Today my batery charger decided he was tired of playing hide and seek, so I finally got to charge my batteries so I could take pictures of everything I've made.
After I had taken the photos I updated my facebook page, so everything is online and up to date right now =]

Photoshoot & new designs

Last sunday I had a photo with a friend of mine for my jewelry line "EmikoDesigns"!
I went to Liedekerke, the village where she lives, she and her boyfriend picked my boyfriend and me up. We then drove to a house that belongs to family of her.
It is an empty house, but it was still in decent condition, I actually really liked it!
first I did a look where I barely wore makeup and had my hair in pigtails to look more like "Wednesday Addams", after that I did a more gothic look.
I love the results I already got from the photoshoot.
here's a preview:

The jewel in the picture above is the only one that wasn't made by me that I have worn for the shoot. It was made by a brand called "Starchild by Saffron".

These are some of pictures I've gotten so far,
Hope you like them ^^
If you wish to see more pictures or just chek when I'll get some more of them you can always like my modellign page on facebook :
http://www.facebook.com/EmikoSlaughter

And today I have been working on some new jewelry, I've made 6 pieces, and they look like this:
.
Yes yes, me without makeup looking tired as hell.

The gem on the picture is purple but I've made them also with these colors:
- Clear
- Black
-Apple green
-Ruby red
- Blue

I really like thisnew lace necklace.

Business cards are in

Yesterday I recieved my 250 business cards, I was so happy!
But they were almost destroyed, thatnks to the mailman... Our doorstep was dry and instead of leaving it there, he put the litlle box on the wet floor, luckily they had only bene out there for 20 minutes or so, otherwise they would have been soaked.
Here's whet they look like, front and back:
I ordered them from Vistaprint.be, as you can see they are very nicely printed and there are no mistakes of any sort in the design, I love them.
I do have to say that Vistaprint.be does make misleading advertisement... They first say that your 250 cards are for free (didn't fall for that though...), then they suddenly cost 4.99€...
But at the chekout my final price was 42.41€, and then if you looki at the list you'll get something like this:
- 250 cards 4.99€
- Color printed back 30.00€
- Shipping 10.00€
...and so on.

So don't get misguided by them =)

Yashica TL electro

Today I got a litlle present from my dad, and I am very happy with it!
He got me a Yashica TL electro reflex camera from 1972.
I loooove old reflex cameras, and I already had one but I needed to get fixed... turned out that not one shop could get the parts for the camera anymore...
So now I have a new one ^^

I still need batteries, and the closing cap for the batteries is missing too...
But I bet they sell those too in battery shops.

Isn't he just gorgeous?
I hope it still works <3

Yet another sneak peek

Ok so here is another sneak peek,
Indeed I have been making loads of new stuff the last 2 weeks.

And there is even more to come in a few weeks.
So here they are, my new skelleton ladies:

Hope you like them <3

Japanese pop culture + FNM

Lately I have been listening to Japanese pop and metal a lot, and I keep wondering why European pop culture isn't as fun and colofull as the Japanese pop culture...
Here we have talentless people who mix up some old songs in their own homemade computer music, they ruin older songs from the 90's and 80's and then call it music, art, tallent...
Or dubstep ofcourse... we have dubstep.
I must admit there is some dubstep I like, but I think some dubstep is still to be considered "music", for example "Promises" by Nero.
But most dubstep just really sounds like a computer crashing and the dog scratching a blackbord while the thumble drier is shredding your clothes... or something like that.
I would give anything to have music like they have in Japan, here in Europe.
The videoclips are awesome, the music sounds happy and sweet, the artists never look the same, they all have their own original style,...

The new collection that I am working on for EmikoDesigns is going to be based on that Japanese popculture and on harajuku styles such as lolita, fairy kei, deco,...
So it is going to be a bit colorfull, cute and outragious.

That's all on the popculture subject.

Tonight I'll be attending another FNM (Friday Night Magic), and I don't think I have ever talked about that on my blog before... so let's do that now.
Magic the gathering is a card game, that was invented int he 90's, it is the game that the Pokemon cardgame as well as the Yu Gi Oh cardgame were based on.
You have 7 types of cards:
-Artifact

-Creature

-Instant

-Sorcery

-Enchanment

-Planeswalker

-Land : this you need to use any of the above card types and is your base.

This is an island, all lands of the color blue are Islands.
there are 6 colors you can play:
-Green
-White
-Red
-Blue
-Black
-Colorless (mostly artifact)

every creature, instant, artifact, sorcery, planeswalker and enchantment has a mana (land) cost on their card, and you'll need this many land to able to bring the card into play.
If you have a 60-card deck you mostly have about 40 cards that range from creatures to enchantments, and the other 20 are land.
And from there on, when you have your mana you can start playing cards, those are the basics of the game.

So on FNM, you get to play against other people (you can not choose who) and at the and of the evening you can win prices, such as rare cards or special art cards.
How good or bad you've played gets you points and those points you straight to your DCI number, where you can see how many points you have and what "level" you are.

I play a white weenie deck, weenie meaning that I play low cost creatures with mostly low strenght and toughness. This doens't sound logical at all if you want to win, but this was you have creatures before that the enemy has them, so you can do some damage before he can even block the damage because he has no creatures.
The creature types in my deck are "Humans", and I have a lot of cards you need to power up.
for instance:
Champion of the parish
He only costs one mana to paly, so I have this one in my deck 3 times, so i have more chances that he is going to be in my begin hand. if he is the first card I play, the game is as good as won by me. Whenever I play another "human", his strenght and toughness go up by 1, so in about 4 turns, I can have a super strong creature that no one can beat.

So I hope I'll draw some good cards tonight and that I'll win something ^^

Getting bussy

So lately I've been wanting to get more bussy and "professional" with modeling and EmikoDesigns.
I feel like I don't put enough effort in both of them, so I'm trying to think of a way to get more envolved, well I already know some stuff for EmikoDesigns...
I am having bussiness cards printed and I am going to start attending "Micro Marche"
http://www.micromarche.be/
Micro marche is a small market in Brussels where people who make things by hand (such as art, clothing and jewelry) can go sell their stuff. I am hoping to get some "succes" their as in, people finding out about EmikoDesigns' existence.
Here are some impressions of the market:

(Photos were taken from their facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000206779204)

But for my modelling, I have no idea...
I think I can print some of my photos and put them in a map, so people can look at my pictures too, I have no idea.... I guess I'll just try that.
Ofcourse I will start doing more photoshoot when I find myself some more time.

Sunday I have a photoshoot planned, we would be doing that scary fairytale shoot, but we can't make it to the location so we'll be doing something else.
The new idea is too shoot some of my EmikoDesigns jewelry, but I'll be wearing something that kinda reminds me of Wednesday Addams, so I think it'll be nice.

Right now I am still waiting for 5 shipments to arrive, all supplies for jewelry, and I can't wait to recieve them!
I am up to such wonderfull things!
Here's a sneek peek on what things I bought:

I love these beads, they look just sooo yummy because of their gorgeous colors!
I can't wait to use them =3

Neon stars, how much better can it get!

So this was a litlle update on bussiness!

Jewelry update

I have just ordered a massive load of new supplies, and some of it already arrived!
So today I have been crafting a bit with what I've recieved in the mail so far...

My battery recharger is still lost in oblivion and nowhere to be found, so I still have to make my pictures with my crappy cellphone camera...
but anyways, I made a sneek peek shot at the new jewelry
So here are a few things I made today!
I like to get it all sparkly lately...

Two picture competitions + chitchat

So today I entered two picture competitions, and I am calling upon you -my friends- to help me get some votes. I will put links to my submitted pics where you can vote for them by "like"-ing them.
A very big "thank you" in advance!

Today I started playing "the sims: social" on facebook, and I am hooked on it already!
I am like a psycho, constantly asking people for energy and other stuff I need in the game.
I really do enjoy the game, I like that you can visit your friends and see what their houses look like and stuff... I just don't like that you need so much energy, and that you run out of it so easily!
They should give away more free energy!

Also, all the supplies for the last jewelery colletion of this year are on their way.
I am working with some materials I haven't worked with before, so I am pretty excited to be recieving my new supplies ^^
I also made a new piece today, I personally like it a lot!
Tommorow I will upload some pics if my camera batteries want to co-operate.

And i've been in an Agalloch mood =3

Bussy bussy...

Lately I have been so bussy... I am almost never home!
I promised to upload pictures on the doll look for the upcoming photoshoot, but I haven't even gotten the chance to try it out...

My weekend:
Friday I went to a jobday where I got interviewed and had to fill out some forms, I hope I might get the job. After that I went to my boyfriend and we went out in Ypres, we went to the Irish pub with his best friend, I had a good time.

Saturday we went to Roeselaere, I looked for some christmass gifts and something to wear on christmass and new year. I didn't find anything to wear, but I did find a nice present for my mom.
After the shopping we went to "Black border" where we play Magic: the gathering, my white weenie deck beat some people which means it works, I am pleased about that!

Sunday we went to celebrate my boyfriend's dad's birthday at his parent's place. We had cake and got to stay for a lovely dinner!

Monday we went shopping in Ypres where I found a christmass present for my boyfriend his dad, but again I didn't find anything to wear!

I hope I will find something to wear on christmass or new year's eve soon...

There that was a litlle update on what has kept me bussy last week, I am home from today till friday this week. I will continue my search for a new job (H&M still has to make an appointment with me) and holiday clothes.

Supplies

I made my final order for the year 2011,
I'll be doing womething new, and some things I have done before.
The new jewelery will be slightly colorfull, well colorfull for a goth ofcourse.

I found this amazing seller who sells laser cut acrylic cameo frames, I really liked them so decided to use them for my cameos, I hope I'll recieve them soon.
I will be using this frame:

The frame and bow's color will be different for every cameo, since I am using some colorfull cameos. I think it will give a nice effect, atleast I hope so.

I'm also going to start working with lace and appliques more often, to create a more authentic victorian and gothic look for my jewelery.
I will be using the diamond cut glass stones, which I used in my holiday collection, with the lace as well. I think it will look pretty nice.
I still need to figure womething ou thouhg... If I used colored glass, like for example a green glass stone and I put it on black lace, the color will kind of fade.

It will look like a much darker green than the vivid green you wanted, So I am thinking of cuting a hole in the applique where the stone is suposed to come, that was the stone will keep it's vivid color.
Atleast I hope so.
This is the applique I will be using.
The glass jewel is suposed to come in the middle of the piece (where there is a flower embroided), so I think i'll cut a piece out fo the flower and then put the jewel and the framer there. Mayeb by using hot glue?
or just sew the frame on?

Not sure yet...

But well this was a small preview of what is too come.

chitchat *update*

Hey everyone,

Last week I spent a lot of time with my boyfriend and finnishing the new collection, wich I wanted to have online completely by now...
But I ran out of pearls and the store where I got them from didn't have any in stock themselves last week, but luckily they had everything back in stock yesterday.
I am finnishing everything by tonight and might upload too, depends on how much time I'll have and how fast the final pieces are done.

I haven't had any time to go on the internet last week, so I didn't have a chance to find lovely things for my lovely things monday. Speaking of which, I will change lovely things monday into lovely things wednesday starting from next week.
It seems that mondays are bussy days for me, I never really get a chance to blog on most mondays.

I had to cancel 2 photoshoots this week because of circumstances, but I still have a photoshoot next weekend. The theme will be fairytale, we are not going to shoot existing fairytales but just scary fairytale-ish images.
I'll be wearing a FanPlusFriend lolita dress and doll makeup.
This is the makeup we will use:
I will try it out tommorow and yes, I will upload the results!
I hope it won't turn out to be a disaster!

Lovely things - Wednesday + Contest!

Since I forgot to do this on Monday, I will do it today!
I found some nice things on the internet this week I'd like to share with you guys!

Paris shabby glam desk

This is a desk I found on etsy while I was looking for furniture inspiration for my future apartement. I'd like to have this in it some day.
The colors are amazing, and I love how it really looks vintage!
Unforionately it is made and located in Florida, so getting it here would be horrible and expensive!
"you have just been poisoned" drinking glass
I think this is a fun and clever item!
It has been made by Geekatrix on etsy, I really recomend looking at this shop! they don't have many items, but they do custom etched glass christmass ornaments with elements on them!
I love geekery!

Lace jacket
This is a lovely jacket from the polish online alternative shop "restyle", they have amazing clothes for even more amazing prices! Though I've hear the prizes might go up soon.
I actually bought this jacket, and the quality looks better than it is, never the less it is still a great jacket. It was just a softer fabric than I expected.
Their service is good and delivery is quick, I totally recommend!

My song of the week:
Opeth - Ghost of perdition
This is a song I have always liked a lot, but this week I started to listening it abnormaly much! I fell inlove with it again I guess.
I think a lot of goth's and metalheads out there can appreciate this song.

The info on my contest follows in a next post!

"Lovely things"- Monday

This is going to be my first "lovely things"- Monday, meaning:
from now on, every monday I will post a few things I found on the internet during the week that really are worth having a look at.
Such as etsy shops, items, music,...
Today we have 3 lovely things and some music, Starting next week I will have more lovely things to show you. But I kind of decided to do this in an impulse today, so I didn't have time to look for more things.
There will be more next week, promise<3

Our lovely things of today:

This a victorian inspired necklace created by "Azure Treasures" on etsy.
I love all the items in her shop and wish to place an order there soon!
Everything is handmade, even pearls are handknot.
If I were to order something, I would most likely buy this necklace, the color of the glass jewel is so amazing, and I aboslutely love the connector that the designer used!

This is a ring by the designer Daniel Proulx, under the name "Cathrinette rings" on etsy.
He designs all kings of steampunk jewelery and mini sculptures, I am a big fan of what he is doing, all his stuff looks amazing.
The ring is made out of a stretchy material so it will fit any fingers, wich is great for me since I have chubby fingers, hah!

This is a victorian jacket I found a while back on etsy, it is made by a dutch designer called Marjolein Turin who has her own brand "Somnia Romantica".
All her clothes seem very well made, and I really want to order from her some time.
She makes every item to your measurements and to your likings where ever she can.

Last but not least, Enslaved's song "the watcher" has been haunting me for days.
It is one of the most beautifull black metal songs that has ever been made if you ask me.
So I think it deserves a listen from you as well ^^

Independence

Lately I have been feeling a strong urge for independence... again.
I don't hate living with my parents, I like them, they do good things for me and everything,
but sometimes I feel like I have to get out and go live on my own.

I imagine about a small appartement in Ghent.
I would decorate it in a victorian or arabian style, victorian is prefered though!
To be honest, I already have some stuff for my future home, like an antique mirror, victorian-ish jewelery boxes, a set of forks, spoons and knives,...

I am a huge fan of both exotic and victorian interior, so the only thing I hope is that I don't try to mix the styles and then totally screw it up. I want my place to look nice!

Just look at those beautifull rich and warm colours!
And those arches are just gorgeous, I love detailed cuttings like those.
Another thing I reall love about this style, is the lamps. I wanted to buy a lamp in this style in Istanbull, but they were -unfortionately- all overpriced!

But then again victorian interiors are very beautifull as well,
they are super cosy and elegant, though exotic interiors are also very ellegant in their own way.

I like the curtains used in victorian interior, same for the sofa's.
Mirrors are one of my favourite objects, and I absolutely adore victorian mirrors!
The chandeliers are nice too, and I like lots of sparkly stuff, so... =3

I just wish I could already have a nice appartement for me and my boyfriend, living togheter seems like a whole lot of fun to me...
As long as I get to choose the interior ofcrouse =')

Cities are prefered, I like being in cities because everything is in one place.
You only have to take a tram or buss to go shopping, no need for driving around and looking for parking all day long.
Ghent would be my first choice because most of my friends live there, I know the entire town, it is a beautifull and it has some pretty cool shops.
I would also consider Antwerp or Brussels, They are nice cities too and I also know all the shops I have to know around there.

For now I'll just have to keep dreaming,
go to sleep in my bed,
at my parents house.

I hope I'll be sleeping in my own appartement soon. <3

Nice week , car accident + jewelery update

Last week was a pretty good week, but with a downside.
I've spent my last week without a job being lazy, doing whatever I want and a visit to Efteling.

For the 1st of november my boyfriend and I went to his family where we had to watch dia's for hours, and I can tell you this: looking at your own vacation pictures is fun, but looking at otherpeople's vacation pictures just sucks...
Apart from watching vacation dia's we also watched dia's from my bf's parents their chilhood.
What I've learned from this:
My boyfriends's dad lookd like my boyfriend with a weird "beatlles" wig.

At Efteling we had a great time, we haven't qued a single line the entire day!
There were basicaly no visitors in the park, the weather was good, all the new rides were absolutely amazing and we had lots of fun!
Now I feel like going again already enxt month, hah!
But I'll have to wait till next year...
Unfortionately my favourite rollercoaster wasn't open that day.
The fairytale and laaf village were as enchanting as tey used to be, I thought they would be less cool because I'm older now, but they were still as magical ^^
We got stuck for 15 minutes in "Vliegende hollander" because of technical problems, I get this all te time. Every time I visit a thema park, something gets stuck.
Oh and I wore my newest lolita skirt, wich I adore <3

After we left the park (not even 3 kilometers) there was a car standing still on the road, we hit the brakes about just in time, but the car behind us was to late, tried to drive around us but hit one of back tires... yay!
I really was in shock at first, luckily th people who drove into us were really nice and did all the paper work properly, the person causing the accident who was standing still on the road drove off when he/she saw us getting hit.
We couldn't drive back home and to wait for somone to pick us up for two hours in a mc donalds, I ate soo much that night..

I have finally placed a supply order with a wholesaler for my new jewelery collection, everything is going to be victorian inspired. I am working with silver and glass jewels for the collection so the price is going to be a litlle more expensive than the usual things that I sell.
I asked people on vampirefreaks and facebook what colors I should use, so I took someof the most popular colors and some of the less popular colors to create a color scheme with varities.
here's the outcome:

These are all the colors i'll be using for the biggest pieces of the collection.
I hope that I'll recieve my supplies soon, so I can start making my new jewelery!

Last week as a free woman

The upcoming week is my last week as a free woman,
I found a job so no more lazy days of doing nothing all day.

Too bad... I kind of liked them!

But ah well, everyone needs a money source and so do I. When I think about it, I'm quite happy that I found a new job even though I will have to work on saturdays.
Atleast now I won't have those days where I don't even have 0.01€ in my wallet, hah!

Yesterday I was thinking of a new jewelery collection for my FB shop "EmikoDesigns" and then I thought I should do a collection that is really fancy for the holidays like christmass and new year. I did some reasearch on the net and decided that I am going to make a collection useing glass jewelery instead of cameo's.
It is going to be all victorian inspired

  • Silver
  • Gem stones
  • Bright colors
  • Sparkle
  • Fancy
Those are the first things I thougt of, and all the things I decided to use in my new collection.
I'm going to order the supplies soon, so there should be jewelery up pretty soon too =)

Amusement park frenzy!

The last three months I've been obsessed by amusement parcs!
I always lvoed them since I was a kid, and visited them on a regular basis. (my parents eve bought subsciptions to soma belgian amusement parks when me and my brother we're younger)
But now it's been quite a while since I went to an amusemet park, it's been since January 2010 (Disneyland Paris) , wich is a LOOOONG time for me!

So far I've been to:
Efteling x3 (NL)
Walibi world (NL)
Bellewaerde x10 (B)
Walibi x18 (B)
Plopsaland (B)
Plopsa Coo x3 (B)
Movie park (D)
Phantasialand(D)
Disneyland resort Paris x5 (FR)
Walibi France (FR)
Garda Land (IT)

I would love to visit Phantasialand, Disneyland or Efteling again soon!
And since Efteling is just over the border (2 hrs drive), me and my boyfriend descided to go next week, and I am very excited.
I am planning all the stuff to do there as we speak!
The rollercoasters is what I'd want to do most, then comes some of the gentle rides and the fairytale woods, wich by the way are gorgeous.
Their fairytale woods have basically every classic european fairytale and some of other continents, they are great scenery for photoshoot now I think of it, and would like to shoot at that park some day. Though I'm not sure if that is possible.

Oooh amusement parks... you hold all my favourite memories <3
And I am sooo glad I get to make some new memories there next week =)

Any other amusement park freaks out here?

Shoots

So, since I made this blog in August I have done three photoshoot.

One with Kinga Szabo (Filth Industries), Guy de Westelinck and Annabelle D'Hont (Hoshii), and I am hoping to do some more shoots soon.

The photoshoot with Kinga Szabo took place in Ghent at the citadel parc ad at the blaarmeersen recreation parc and was kind of the typical goth shoot.

We had fun with it, she was a nice girl to work with and easy to talk too, wich I like! I don't socialize easily, but with her it just went great ^^

Here are some of my favourite pics:

The shoot after that one, was my shoot with Guy de Westelicnk.
Guy is a very friendly man who really knows what he is doing, he had a lot of equipment that I thought I'd never see in real life in one of my shoots, it was amazing. The theme was suicide, so I had to do some crazy stuff; get hung with a harnass, lay upside down on stairs of an old house,.. I also made a fake poison, haha!

It was a nice experience!
Here's my favourite pics:

Last and most recent shoot I did was with Hoshii photography, we went to Ghent (St Baafs cathedral)
I dressed up s my own interpretation of Sorin Markov, a planeswalker from the card game "Magic the gathering", well a toned down female version ofcourse...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We had a great time, Annabelle is a very nice and young girl who loves to laugh and make a fun experience out of the shoot. Since the shoot took place in a cathedral full of tourists we had some funny situations and led to some amazing photographs!
here are my favourites:

You can see more results of the shoots here:
